2. Humboldtⁿ-School „Hydrogen Innovation Ecosystem“

From June 19th to 21st, 2023, the second interdisciplinary Summer School of the alliance for sustainability of the 16 universities in North Rhine-Westphalia - Humboldtⁿ - took place at RWTH Aachen University with the participation of Forschungszentrum Jülich as part of the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA).

The 2nd Humboldtⁿ-School focused on the "Hydrogen Innovation Ecosystem" from an interdisciplinary perspective. Different stages of the value chain of a hydrogen economy (production, storage, distribution, use) will be considered in keynote lectures from science and practice, and the economy, science and society were connected in a goal-oriented manner. Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research approaches offered the opportunity to integrate not only engineering sciences but also, for example, social and economic innovation research. By taking up innovative approaches of transformation research in the energy sector and embedding sustainability aspects in research activities, new impulses are to be set. The integrated Hydrogen Clusters4Future aim to increasingly address sustainability aspects in the various stages of the value chain. In a jointly formulated white paper, the interdisciplinary perspectives on the "Hydrogen Innovation Ecosystem" are to be set in relation to the global sustainability goals (SDGs) and this shall be made accessible via Humboldtn.

The Humboldtn-School started on Monday, June 19th, 2023 at 6 pm with an opening event for all participants in the Skylounge of the main building of RWTH Aachen University. The School took place on the premises of RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich. On June 21st, jointly developed results were presented at the closing event at the Temporary University Hambach, which addressed the interdisciplinary perspectives on the "Hydrogen Innovation Ecosystem" to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Post-doctoral students and advanced PhD students[1] of all subjects from universities and non-university research institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia  who would like to deal with the content of the "Hydrogen Innovation Ecosystem" in an interdisciplinary way and with reference to the SDGs are invited to participate in the Humboldtⁿ School. The number of participants is limited to 25. The event language was English. Participation was free of charge. Participants received a certificate upon successful completion.

The registration is closed.
